We’re surrounded by poison ivy, I’ve got to turn back
I have uttered those words out dozens of times through
the years. I’ve turned back on countless hikes, withdrew
my hands from all sorts of gardens and avoided tools -rakes, hoes,
tractor mowers-anything I know has touched poison ivy. I even
turn away from dogs or cats that want to be petted or rub against my
legs this time of the year.
I was texting one of my grown girls remedies
for dealing with a poison ivy breakout. Fingernail polish remover, comet,
super hot showers, dawn dish washing soap. After finishing my text I
thought -phew, sure am glad I haven’t had to use those remedies in a long time.
