Holidays and many busy weekends are abounding.
Once this time of year rolls around I feel as if all of
the little out-sy things are over. Plants are dying back
produce has been picked and processed. It’s semi-depressing
to me. Not like at the beginning of the garden/summer
season when you want things to grow and bud. But this
bit of portulaca is on my side porch in a big pot. It blooms
beautiful and reminds me that the season is still at it. Every once
in a while it will stay closed up and take a couple days off- I give it
extra water. Most days by the time I get around to seeing it. It is
starting to close up for the night. In some ways it reminds me of my days.
I am an early to rise early to bed person. That’s one of the reasons I love the
fall and winter time. It gets dark earlier and it seems more appropriate
to wind down by 4 P.M.
