Lodging

We stayed in a hostel on our bike ride last week.

Just one night. The other nights were spent in airbnbs, and,

or hotels. We rode the Katy Trail. Hubby, and I, and two

of our bike friends. The last day we had to part ways so we

could take the train back to our cars. The train only has place

for three bikes. Can you believe that? Any how, the day we parted,

Hubby and I road on to Alton, Illinois. We crossed the Mississippi River,

by way of the Clark Bridge. It was quite the adventure. That morning we had

sprinkles for the first 12 miles. When they let up I was most thankful.

Riding on wet pavement is tricky. We had a time of it getting into Alton.

It’s a very hilly city ,and most of the roads are brick and uneven. I spent a bit of

time walking and pushing my bike up till I could get on and peddle. It’s the packs

on the back, they make the bike heavier and harder to manage. We ate fun food.

The first night in Rocheport, Missouri I ordered stuffed peppadew peppers, isn’t that

a fun word to say. They were delicious – tiny red sweet peppers stuffed with bread crumbs

and cheese. The trip was great fun and we met some really neat people and had excellent conversation.

That is not a picture of my bike. It’s hubbies. My bike packs are half that size!
