For our next book club we read the book-
Barbie and Ruth by Robin Gerber.
It’s a non-fiction account of the founder/designer
of Barbie and Mattel toys, sorta kinda.
I found the book fascinating. It’s my era.
When she brought them to the market I was just
born. I did not grow up playing with Barbies. One
of our cousins had one. But who knew there was
such controversy around them? Read the book.
It was a good one and short too -278 pages.
The photo above is the cake our youngest grown
girl made for a Barbie party. We plan on having a
Barbie cake at book club too! Can’t wait for all that icing!
