Yesterday I finished the book-This is Happiness
by Niall Williams. I’m part of what “we” refer to
as a “sister zoom meeting”. And, it is just that. Myself,
and my four sisters! We have been zooming together
for about a year. We all live in different states.
A few months ago we decided to try an informal book club.
This is Happiness- was the third book we’ve read. It’s a story
of an Irish village being hooked up to electricity. The author masterfully
interweaves so many stories in and around the backdrop of the electricity story.
It is so well written. Every sentence packed with music, memoir, love,
family, community, grief. It truly was a delightful read.
I started to listen to that book and it was so beautiful I knew I was going to want to highlight it. So it went back on the list as a book read instead of an audio read. I love your idea of Zooming with your sisters!
Yes,at first I wasn’t going to read it but,
I listened to the author read excerpts from his story
along with accordion music. Insanely wonderful-it really drew me in.
