I’m sure, absolutely positive, that my kids
used to clean up my weed piles. Where ever
I raked, or booted the weeds to, the kids picked them up and
put them where they were supposed to be. The kids put the
hose back where it belonged correctly. Twisting it just right on the
hose-y thing. Now, the kids are way grown. I still leave piles all over
the yard. I do not hang the hose correctly. In my defense, it’s not because I
don’t want to. It’s because poison ivy is hanging around, growing near the hose.
I don’t want the hose to touch my bare legs or arms or hands,
or rub against my shorts. I know full well that poison ivy will spread all over my limbs.
And, with the weed piles, it’s about the same risk. Scoop up a pile of weeds, hold it close to move it.
Reckless. A stray leaf of that ivy can be anywhere. So, you guessed it, Mr. Fix-it
has come to my rescue. He mows my piles of weeds and coils each hose correctly
before he mows the lawn.
