I’m the type that wants to drag the tree to the burn pile
the morning after Christmas. One of our grown girls does.
Because I water the tree is precisely why I want to dispose
of the tree. They dry up. Watered or not. Their needles
get pricklier. They drop at the slightest touch and…
It’s time to go. Besides they live on in the vacuum hose
for years. You shake them out of rugs and doormats and
even find the needles in the lint trap of the dryer. So at
days end, the tree is never truly gone.
