Occasionally while I’m out and about at a campground,
I will come upon a person with earbuds in. If I can get
close enough to them and get their attention. I will ask
them what they are listening to. If it’s a book, I’ll write
the name in my notes on my phone. This last time I met
a lady who was carrying a book. She had been reading it
near the water, and was headed back to her camp. I asked
her what she was reading and she held it up while I took
a picture. I’ve never read this author, but I plan to. She
was an enthusiastic fan of the book, and told me I would
not be disappointed. Her friend, who was walking with her,
had a mass of colorful yarn dangling from her fingers.
She held it up for me to see. “It’s for my daughter-in-law,
a poncho.”
The “reader”, cut in. “She’ll have that done in no time-she’s that
quick.”
