I don’t remember when I first started getting
flowers as a gift of sorts. You know the flowers
that require a vase and water. I do remember
filling vases with water and setting the flowers
out, usually on the dining room table.
I rarely do that now. Often if it is a bouquet
made up of a variety of flowers I divide them into
two or three vases and set them out around the house.
I almost always carry them up to bed with me
at night and set them on my “nightstand”.
I also enjoy them in the kitchen while I cook.
Mostly I keep them with me – along with the
words, written on a card or spoken, as long as I can.
My mother did the same thing. I don’t know that she
took flowers to her bedroom or separated bouquets up.
But I do know when she died I found a great many of the
tiny cards that sometimes go with flowers in most of the
drawers in her apartment.
