When I went down the basement steps this morning my hands were too full.
I had two bottles of water, my wallet, a bag with extra shoes, and my water
color pad. I set my water color pad on the roof of my car and tossed all the
other things over on to the passenger seat. I opened the garage door and headed
to the top of the hill to put a bit of gas in-the tank was too close to empty.
I got on the highway and headed to play tennis. I started to look around
the car after rehearsing what I was going to do after tennis- which brought
me to the water color pad -hmm- it wasn’t in the passenger seat. The sun
was a gleamer for sure, so I didn’t dare to search more. I was going 70mph.
I pulled over at the truck stop and jumped from the car -hoping it might still
be on the car roof? It was not. I called Mr. Fix-it. We had the quickest of
discussion-he heard my distress. And said he would look and call me.
I prayed to get it back-the water color pad- that Mr. Fix-it would find it
on the road. It could be ruined from being run over or… I came to terms
with the chance I would not get it back at all and that this would not be
the end of the world. Mr. Fix-it called me and I heard shouting–
Oh my gosh my wife is going to love you. Turns out he came upon an
old guy parked in the middle of the street- he was getting back in his truck
when Mr. Fix-it asked him if he might have seen a blue notebook- It just
so happened that is why he was out of his truck!
He was picking it up from the road. So Mr.Fix-it got it back no damage
at all except my yellow rubber band was missing.
