My mother was one to point out anyone
who might be trying new things. For instance,
a neighbor hanging cloths out for the first time.
A relative changing their hair color, or anyone
on a diet. She referred to these sort of things as “kicks”
ROGET’S II The New Thesaurus from 1980 says:
Slang, A temporary concentration of interest: He’s on
a science- fiction kick.
Perhaps, my mother knew ROGET. Anyways, I am
on several kicks right now. Hence the photo.
I’m considering giving up prescription glasses and contacts.
And I’ve been using Castor oil like the guy in My Big Fat Greek Wedding,
used Windex. I like to think, I make my “kicks” permanent. Time will tell.
