Springy Stuff

IMG_7665

The back woods are full of daffodils.

Many of them are blossoming behind

fallen trees, possible poison ivy, and

various forms of thorny vines. Although,

I consider going in closer to enjoy

the flowers or even clip some for the

table, I do not. When I came upon

this little “nut shell” I was with my

youngest granddaughter. She is

enthralled with the moss. Within

a few more steps she stopped and

peeled the moss from the ground.

Put some in her coat pocket and

rubbed some on her ankles. When she

started to stuff it into her socks, her

mother distracted her to get her to

stop. She doesn’t care about poison ivy.

She loves to sit in the wet soft earth and

touch it with her toes and hands. She’s

been in gardens and earthy things since

she was first born. Her mother, one of

my grown girls, has cultivated this love

of the outdoors with her.
