I have been engaging in so many book
discussions with random strangers.
I have managed to interrupt, desk people,
car readers, and restaurant readers.
All within the last month. And people are
inclined to tell you about the book they are
reading. It seems as if winter does that for
readers. It provides them with guilt free time
to read. I have read and listened to more books
in this first few months of the year than any
other year. Today the desk lady was reading
Magic Hour by Kristin Hannah. She said
she finished The Women, also by Kristin Hannah
less than a week ago. She said the Large Print
books are more readily available. She jotted
down the few books that I mentioned to her
that I was reading or had recently read.
I do enjoy meeting a fellow reader.
Twice the book, Theo of Golden by Allen Levi, has
been recommended to me. I put it on my book list.
Now aside from my book club book, I am on page
192 of James Clavell’s Shogun. I have a long way to go.
So be it. But I am looking forward to the book club’s
discussion on The Correspondent by Virginia Evans.
I thought it was an excellent read.
Total Outside Hours to date: ~47
p.s. when I mentioned to one of my older
sisters that I was reading Shogun, she suggested
watching the movie instead! She might be right I
have over 1000 pages left.
Clavell only writes tomes
