Then There Were Six…

IMG_8405

When I first peeked under the leaves, I saw

one cucumber ready for picking. That was on

Saturday. I must have missed a few. They have

managed to grow into the size of  small footballs.

Yikes! So far, I prepared 2 and a half jars of pesto

with the basil. Some of my  book club and bicycling

friends have also shared their garden bounty: onions.

beets, zucchini, green beans and yellow squash. I baked

up 6 small zucchini breads, and grated another zucchini

in prep for more. I’m planning to put the onions in

vinegar with some of those cucumbers. I love beets,

but don’t know of another way to prepare them, but

boil them. Even though I do like the garden bounty,

today when I was at the Home Depot with Mr. Fix-it,

I avoided the vegetables and picked up a few perennial flowers.

I like plants and tennis and book club and classical music and small bowls of ice cream.

I love Jesus, Mr. Fix-it, family and life!

I don’t like driving in the rain or sleeping in.
