When I was a young mother of six, I lay awake in bed thinking of my day.
Had I been kind to the children?
Had I taken time with this one or that one?
Had I even spoken to my husband?
One night I lay still, thinking.
I’d done the best I could.
I hadn’t maimed a neighbor, or poisoned the soup!
I slept.
It’s always a good day when no one gets maimed or poisoned!
