We get to start a new year today.
And, I for one, am thrilled to be
a part of it. No, I did nothing
special to ring it in. But it doesn’t
care. It doesn’t know I did not
celebrate. I still get to be in the
new year! Growing up we celebrated
with Chicken in a Biskit Crackers, teeny
glass jars of Kraft Pimento Spread, deviled
ham and egg salad sandwiches, cut into triangles,
and pickled herring in cream sauce. This selection
of finger foods spread across our dining room table for hours.
It wasn’t until the Times Square Ball Drop, 11 PM our time,
that we called it quits and packed it in.
Leaving the opened jars of herring, the few crackers,
half bitten sandwiches, and mismatched paper plates for
our mother to clean up.
