Our youngest granddaughter came for a short visit today.
She’s not yet two.
She told me of her afraids. She’s afraid of beep beeps.
In the short time we spent outside, she shuddered at a robin.
She ran away from the porch because she saw a squirrel.
And when I turned the blender on, when we went inside,
she yelled out.
Of course, all her fears are alleviated by her mom. Mom tells her-
its going to be okay, and she is safe. She identifies the squirrel, the bird
or the sound the blender makes as normal – nothing to be afraid of.
For sure, I am past being afraid of beep beep, and robins, and squirrels-mostly
But there are a lot of things, that can still make me afraid. That can
make me shudder and run away.
Psalm 56:3 says, When I am afraid I put my trust in You.
I am aware there are well over 300 verses in the Bible telling
us not to be afraid.
That covers a lot of beep beeps and squirrels, and…
