This morning it was storming. When I opened the side
door the smell and the humidity reminded me so much
of Florida . Pop up storms are daily near the ocean. At
least once when we visited Florida it rained a better part
of the day. People, myself included, hustled out to the
beach every time the rain let up, even if it was only for an hour.
My mother lived the last years of her life in Florida. When I
was growing up she was afraid of storms, she unplugged all
the electrical things, even the toaster. In Florida, she seemed
at peace with them, as if she knew, just like everything else in
life, this too shall pass.
