The fruitcakes look better from the top.

So I thought I’d come back to baking.
I remember helping bake banana breads with
my mother. She was a very particular baker.
Followed the recipe to the letter. She made
banana breads only once a year and that was at Christmas.
She gave them away as gifts. She insisted on making only
one loaf at a time and then washing everything; the mixing bowl,
spatula, beaters, loaf pan. She repeated the recipe over and over
till she got 6 or 8 loaves. It was an arduous process.
The loaves need to bake for one hour and fifteen minutes.
I am not such a baker. I bake quick, and double or triple recipes
if I can. Most of my grown girls are far better bakers than me.
They are more creative and find recipes on line. I still prefer
cookbooks or recipes on recipe cards.
