One summer I found packets of wildflower mix at Lowes for 49 cents!
I bought four packs. I imagined a garden of wildflowers-beautiful,
free and bohemian looking-not to be-a few cosmos survived.
While walking through the neighborhood a few years ago, I stopped
and quizzed a man where he got his flowers from.
His wife came out from behind the garage and answered my question.
Telling me where I too, could purchase these “magic seeds” to have this
wildflower garden. Not-to-be- the place didn’t sell them in seed
form anymore. Instead you had to pick small plants and go from there.
Since I didn’t know the names of those bohemian looking wildflowers,
I was sunk. A few days ago, I bought these mung beans because I
remember sprouting bean sprouts in mayonnaise jars on the top of
the fridge shortly after we were married. I’m thinking I will have wild success
with these mung beans! The packet seems big enough to be wildly successful.
After one of my grown girls saw the seed packet lying on the table,
she asked- “So what do you do with a mung bean?”
I quickly answered, “Put them on a sandwich, or eat them in a salad,
or ramen.”
I imagine myself being thrilled with the taste of a mung bean. I am hoping this is
wildly true.
